The Situation
The Tshimbulu 2 primary school is a Catholic school that was founded by the Catholic Church but whose teachers are paid by the Government.
This school has 368 students divided into 8 classes (with an average of 46 students per class); 2 first year classes, 2 second year classes, 1 third year class, 1 fourth year class, 1 fifth year class and 1 sixth year class. In 2009/2010, thanks to the reconstruction and rehabilitation program financed by the World Bank and managed by BCECO (Congo’s Central Coordination Office), the school benefited from renovations of classrooms and toilets.
Only one flaw: the initial project did not take into account the classroom of a primary first year class, which has not been renovated. As a consequence, the students of the first two years now have their classes together, and nearly 90 children aged from 6 to 7 are taught by two teachers. Congo’s Central Coordination Office would like to eliminate the first year class that is without a classroom, and so even a teacher.

The Project
The project financed by Your Life My Life has the goal of renovating that classroom to provide the children of the first year class with a suitable place where they can attend their classes. The renovation consists in enlarging the classroom to the size of all the others, leveling the floor, painting the room and building the roof that does not exist right now.
